Whether we like it or not, we are at war with Islamic fascists. The war is as much fought with violence as it is fought with ideas.
Islamic fundamentalists declared this war on the people of the United States, and they continue to declare it almost daily as they chant "death to America," celebrating their most recent success on Sept. 11, 2001, while plotting for their next attack. This war is not something we can recoil from, or we will lose.
When I say lose, I mean that the end result will be the stated goals of Omar Ahmad, co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, which claims to be a civil rights group. In 1998, Ahmad was quoted as saying, "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
I can't imagine any American - be they Libertarian, Conservative or Liberal - would want to abandon our system of rights of the people, by the people and for the people to adhere to a Sharia law that limits the freedom of women, political and religious expression and celebration.
This same character Ahmad, who acts as an ordinary American CEO of Santa Clara, Calif.-based Silicon Expert Technologies Inc., has also used the aphorism, in an analogy, "Politics is a completion of war."
It should be no surprise then that CAIR is engaged in political action that is subversive to the American tradition by using doublespeak to intimidate those who protect our borders from illegal immigrants or speak out openly against ideas that would hinder the universal spread of Islam. By calling folks who raise concern about this darker side of Islam "racists" who engage in "hate speech," the group emotionally restricts open debate and awareness about the real threats against our freedom.
Most recently, CAIR has launched a campaign against Michael Savage, a Conservative radio talk show host whom I support. The group claims Savage on his show "The Savage Nation" engages in hate speech against Muslims. CAIR calls on advertisers to drop his show. But, in an effort to further promote its campaign, CAIR has lied, saying it has support from specific advertisers who when asked deny the claim.
Savage often engages in emotional rhetoric and hyperbole to prove his points, but he is hateful of nothing other than deceit and actions against the rights of Americans. It is clear, from my review of CAIR's campaign and Savage's lawsuit, that CAIR's attack against Savage is nothing other than an attempt to silence him.
In response, Michael Savage is fighting back against CAIR in an attempt to expose the group for what it is. His lawsuit against CAIR may be one of the more important cases in the battle to maintain free speech.
Speech is not free if criticism is dubbed hateful, and thus illegal. Without critical speech, America will lose the freedoms it affords through open debate. Our nation is in grave danger if we as a people can not stand up for our freedoms and against the organizations that work to subvert them.
In his lawsuit, a copyright infringement case for which he has obtained the support of attorney Daniel Horowitz, Savage explains best the importance of what he does:
“The Savage Nation” is a nationally syndicated radio show that reaches over eight million listeners per week. Related to that show is the website www.MichaelSavage.com, which receives 2.3 million page views per month. The radio show originates in San Francisco, California.
“The Savage Nation” is unique among so-called 'Talk Radio' in that it combines serious intellectual analysis with dramatic and emotional soul baring that the show advertises as 'Psychological Nudity.' This performance aspect of the show is critical in that it conveys an emotional power and a fundamental honesty to the programming that is meaningful to the listening audience.
"There are segments of the show that are as lyrical and as emotionally powerful as live theater, poetry, rap music or other genres where a performer combines social commentary with powerful performance. In fact the start of show always begins with the admonishment: 'Warning: This show contains adult language, adult content, psychological nudity. Listener discretion is advised.'
"Those millions who continue to listen understand that they are hearing radio that is as cutting, raw, emotional and fundamentally honest as any programming that has ever existed on the airwaves....
"On his show, Michael Savage has presented various views and perspectives. One purpose of his show (among other purposes) is to present uncensored, genuine points of view that force listeners to both think and feel in ways that normal polite discourse may not allow."
CAIR's apparent attempt at intimidation by actively calling for advertisers to boycot Savage's show is wrong. Savage claims that CAIR misappropriates material from his show and presents it out of context to make him appear bigoted. It appears from my review that Savage is correct about CAIR's attempt.
The attempt is futile however, because anyone who knows Savage understands his style and can conclude that his comments against Islam are directed at those who would force non-Muslim Americans or any other non-Muslims to convert to Islam or be killed. His comments are directed against Islamic fascism, as are mine. His comments are warranted, as are mine, especially considering the current battle against terrorists.
In one statement that CAIR quotes on its Web site, Savage says, "I'm not gonna put my wife in a hijab. And I'm not gonna put my daughter in a burqa. And I'm not gettin on my all-fours and braying to Mecca. And you could drop dead if you don't like it. You can shove it up your pipe. I don't wanna hear anymore about Islam. I don't wanna hear one more word about Islam. Take your religion and shove it up your behind. I'm sick of you."
While I'm sure the comment was taken out of context, and Savage was probably saying something else here, I still can't help but agree with what he says here in this quote. If some Muslim tried to force my wife or another female family member to wear a hijab or burqa, and I emphasize "force," I would have much harsher sentiments for the "gentleman" or "gentlelady." If some Muslim tried to force me to bend down to Mecca, he or she would not like my response.
The problem is, Islam is flawed in a way that other religions are not. The Islamic "holy" book urges Muslims to kill non-Muslims if they can not be converted to Islam. The Koran urges Muslims to force conversion on others:
Koran, 2.190: And fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.
2.191: And kill unbelievers wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.
2.192: But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
2.193: And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors.
I don't know of any other religion that urges violence as a conversion mechanism. Thank God that some Muslims do not adhere strictly to their "holy" book.
The point is, there are some rather direct criticisms that can be made about Islam, particularly of those who would practice the religion fundamentally. There is something wrong with killing people who don't agree with you. There is not something wrong with people who criticize that viewpoint. Michael Savage is such a critic, and so am I.
But the political war will go on. Maybe I wll be called racist or hateful because of my statements against violent Islam. Maybe Michael and I will be accused of inciting violence? Hopefully you will recognize that such an argument would be vacuous and counterintuitive. Violence is wrong against non-Muslims and it is wrong against Muslims, too. Unfortunately, many of our political leaders and journalists have not recognized the problem we are having with some Muslim organizations or are so afraid of being criticized themselves they they will bow down to CAIR and similar groups and pay homage to their apparent lies.
CAIR will deny it intends to subvert freedom, saying it is standing up against prejudice against Muslims in America, but this group with apparently consistent ties to terrorist groups appears nothing other than "a clear and present danger" to the United States. If you are one who would lean toward taking the organization's word at face value, then first consider the words attributed to Islam's "prophet," then decide:
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Lying is wrong, except in three things: the lie of a man to his wife to make her content with him; a lie in war, for war is deception; or a lie to settle trouble between people” (Ahmad, 6.459).
Remember what else this Ahmad said?: "Politics is a completion of war."
What deceit will CAIR be allowed to get away with before it's too late and the war is lost. The Constitution has been embattled in this country. What stands in the way of it being replaced by Sharia law? We, The People, that's who.
We must stand up now and protect our rights, described in our Constitution, but granted from the source of life itself (whom I believe is God). We must also maintain the separation of church and state, where all people, including Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and atheists, are able to freely exercise and express their religion throughout the land - so long as it doesn't restrict others rights to do so - and where the government cannot establish a religion that controls the state.
If CAIR really wants to improve American-Islamic relations, then it should be spending all of its time and resources criticizing the same Islamic fascists that Michael Savage is criticizing. I must believe that there are Muslims in America that want that much, and I would pray to God that they are a majority.
Michael Savage is standing up to protect our rights, while also protecting his own. He is a spokesman for American values and liberty unlike any other, who needs and deserves the same First Amendment protections that we all do. I urge you to examine this issue closely, and I urge you to donate to Michael Savage's lawsuit against CAIR, like I have already done.
Checks may be made out to "The Trust Account of Daniel Horowitz." Write in the memo, "For Michael Savage's Legal Defense Fund." Mail the checks to "Daniel Horowitz Attorney, PO Box 1547, Lafayette, California 94549." Or, click on the following image and follow the link on the page it brings up to donate to Michael Savage's fund using your checking account, credit card or debit card.
I leave you with a quote from Savage's Web page: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke 1729 – 1797

Here are some key files and Web sites I have archived to ensure they are maintained on my site:
- Michael Savage's Lawsuit Against CAIR
- CAIR's Propaganda Against Savage (I have a saved copy of this on my computer to ensure I can prove the organization went after Savage like it did, but I do not want to post it here because I don't want the lies it promotes to be promulgated.)
