NASHUA, N.H.--About 200 people, the majority of them in protest, gathered around a rotary near Nashua North High School outside President Obama's Town Hall event on Tuesday in New Hampshire.
Roughly 60 percent of the crowd that started to gather around noon in Nashua came to protest the president's arrogant plan to "fundamentally change" the United States into a socialist nation. To support their statements, members of the crowd cited the president's brazen plans for a government takeover of health care, his absurd plans for government control of energy and the economy, his irresponsible $3.83 trillion budget for Fiscal 2011, his ridiculous idea that the government can save money by spending money, and the nation's growing debt and annual deficits that will only make the country's problems worse. They also cited the president's trust in government as a solution to almost every problem.
This was a group, which included this writer, that expressed support for a constitutionally limited federal government that is not involved in the daily lives of individuals and businesses. In short, protesters were calling for a government that is heavily restricted in what it can do so the people of these 50 United States can live their lives and execute their business in liberty, enjoy the fruits of their own labor and pursue happiness in their own way.
As expected, a group of pro-Obama supporters were also present at the protest outside the Town Hall meeting. It is somewhat likely that most of them were bussed in from out of state to give the appearance that New Hampshire supports the president's agenda, when it actually does not.
Leading the group of progressive, Obama supporters were Zandra Rice Hawkins, executive director of Granite State Progress and wife of Brian Hawkins, government-relations coordinator for SEIU Local 1984 (a bit of irony?); Judith "Judy" Stadtman-Tucker, SEIU New Hampshire and Sea Coast for Progress leader; and Israel Pierre, SEIU local 509 of Massachusetts. Also sighted in Nashua was John Thyng of New Hampshire for Health Care, a project of the SEIU and a part of Americans for Health Care. The SEIU is the Service Employees International Union that represents government employees, among others, and stands to benefit markedly from the passage of the Obamacare bill--mainly because union employees would not be subject to the same taxes as everyone else under the legislation (Article - PDF).
This group of pro-union thugs has been at most protest events with bussed-in astroturf (in other words: people who have been paid to protest by big-money progressives such as George Soros), and it appears like Tuesday's protest was no exception. On the way to my car, I overheard Pierre ask Stadtman-Tucker if she needed a ride home. Stadtman-Tucker specifically said she was going to stay back and "make sure everyone gets on the bus." A friend was walking next to me who also heard this. I only wish I was recording when she said this. It is possible that the comment was said intentionally to deceive, if the duo know me by face like I know them, so interpret this using your own judgment. I am inclined to suspect that a bus was in fact used, and most Obama supporters at the event were fake.
There were only a few real Obama supporters whom I spoke with at the event. All of the Obama supporters were aggressive, but not violent, and repeated ignorant comments toward TEA Party protesters and other pro-liberty citizens. TEA Party protesters simply explained the values of limited government, individual liberty and free markets when engaged in conversation.
As a whole, I got the feeling that support is growing for the liberty movement. Pro-constitution, limited government American patriots were in the majority today and may have been an overwhelming majority if the opposition truly bussed-in support. The turnout was not as great as Portsmouth, but parking in the area was difficult and the event was held in the middle of a workday.
Please think about attending protest events like this in your town, and start thinking about which candidates to support in upcoming midterm elections. We must send liberty candidates to Washington and reverse course, or we will continue to go down the road toward financial ruin and despotism that ends at the top of a very steep cliff.
