The Census Bureau Questions

Yesterday I received a U.S. Census Bureau letter reminding me of the lovely interrogation form that will be arriving at my home in a few weeks time.

"About one week from now, you will receive a 2010 Census form in the mail," the letter from Robert M. Groves, the director of U.S. Census Bureau, begins. "When you receive your form, please fill it out and mail it in promptly," the letter pleads.

Continuing, the notice disgracefully goes on to explain how the information acertained from the Census will be used to illegally and unconstitutionally redestribute wealth:

"Results from the 2010 Census will be used to help each community get its fair share of government funds for highways, schools, health facilities and many other programs you and your neighbors need," it states.

To this I reply: If my community or I actually "need" any of these services, the private sector can provide some of them, such as health facilities (or most of them in the case of "many other programs"), the local community can fund and manage the schools just fine on its own, and the state can take care of most of the highway building and upkeep. I don't "need" anything from the federal government other than for it to stay within its constitutional limitations.

On that note, it has always been my impression that the constitution only requires me to inform the government how many people live in my house. In the most precise form of the word "require," I do believe my impression is correct.

This page from USConstitution.net (pdf) offers a somewhat legalistic, though generally unbiased, report of the facts regarding the census and its constitutionality.

Here is the direct constitutional language from Article 1, Section 2:

"The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct."

The following constitutional language from the 14th Amendment explains who must answer the census:

Frank Guinta for U.S. Representative from New Hampshire-D1

Of the House candidates from New Hampshire with the best chance of supporting liberty in Washington, it is clear to me that former Manchester-mayor Frank Guinta is a vote for positive change, rather than a vote against candidates unfriendly to individual liberty.

The constitution is a regular part of Guinta's lexicon, and he clearly understands the limited government principles that lead to the best opportunities for working families and businesses. I think we will have a friend in Washington if we send Guinta.

Please join me in supporting him by visiting his Web site, www.teamguinta.com.
WMUR shows extreme bias in reporting

Well, the good news is that there is good news to be found in WMUR's latest article (PDF) about the success of Republican candidates in New Hampshire, but readers have to be willing to look past all the bias.

I will admit that the headline accurately portrays the truth that is told in this article, "Republicans Look Strong in Congressional Poll," but the lede and body of this article is heavily biased and unfair.

The lede reads: "The Democratic congressional candidates in New Hampshire may have a lot of work to do if they want to claim victory in November, according to a new poll."

Why is WMUR emphasizing the fact that Democrats are down? That's not the news. The news is that the Republicans are up. An explanation of why the Republicans are up is certainly in order, and WMUR does not provide it.

Allow me: Republicans are up because they are presenting real solutions to limit the federal government to its constitutional boundaries and allow private citizens and businesses to control more of their own destiny, while the Democrats are ignoring the people who have hired them and trying to make the federal government into what amounts to a dictatorship.

Protesters in Nashua oppose Obama's progressive agenda

NASHUA, N.H.--About 200 people, the majority of them in protest, gathered around a rotary near Nashua North High School outside President Obama's Town Hall event on Tuesday in New Hampshire.

Roughly 60 percent of the crowd that started to gather around noon in Nashua came to protest the president's arrogant plan to "fundamentally change" the United States into a socialist nation. To support their statements, members of the crowd cited the president's brazen plans for a government takeover of health care, his absurd plans for government control of energy and the economy, his irresponsible $3.83 trillion budget for Fiscal 2011, his ridiculous idea that the government can save money by spending money, and the nation's growing debt and annual deficits that will only make the country's problems worse. They also cited the president's trust in government as a solution to almost every problem.

Please watch all five videos to understand the progressive movement, and to get a sense of what it wants to do to America. Remember, Khrushchev said, "We will bury you." The success of the progressive movement in America is what he meant. Don't let these people win. Learn history and defeat their evil ideology in the present!
Progressive NH Rep. Susan Almy wants government to regulate your earnings

Working families of New Hampshire know that raising taxes in the midst of a struggling economy defies common sense. If these new taxes are allowed to stand, it will lead to more job losses, fewer business opportunities and less innovation. The idea of creating new taxes during tough economic times is so irresponsible that there is clearly another motive behind the spend, then tax policies of the current Legislature.
